1934 R304 Al Demaree Die-Cuts: An incredible near set
Demaree die-cuts are among the rarest of all 1930s gum issues. No full set is known to exist, and completion of its checklist may never be accomplished. The intriguing, eye-catching items, produced by Chicago’s Dietz Gum Company, combine black-and-white photographic player portraits with cartoon body art drawn by former Major League pitcher Al Demaree. On each one, uniform highlights and logos are accented by deep red or blue color. Not only are these cards extremely rare, but they afford virtually insurmountable condition challenges, as well. Common with die-cut issues, these cards can be folded to create a stand-up figure. Unfolded, the cards measure approximately 6-1/2” x 1-3/4.”
Presented is an incredible gallery of nearly 100 different specimens from this difficult production; the overwhelming majority found in their “With Tab” configuration. We believe this to be the finest 1934 R304 Al Demaree near set in existence and are pleased to offer these relics over the next few pages as single lots or as group lots.
